This picturesque cycle trail combines both Brenig and Alwen routes, there is no better way to admire the great outdoors as you cycle through the peaceful woodland.
If you don’t have your own bike we have bike hire available at Llyn Brenig. We have plenty of adult and child bikes as well as bike trailers to choose from.
From woodlands to shoreline, you will be spoilt for views on the Lakes Circular Cycle Trail, this beautiful route stretches 9.5 miles and takes around 1 – 2 hours to complete.

From the Visitor Centre, get those wheels turning towards the dam and then right up the hill towards the main entrance.
At the main entrance look right, then take care crossing the road and you will pick up the trail markers almost immediately for the ‘Lakes Link’ which will take you to the Alwen Car Park.
Head right from the car park following the circular trail markers, approx. 1 ½ miles in don’t miss the marker on your left that takes you through the woods to the shoreline! Nice, short technical stretch of downhill, but please be wary of walkers heading towards you.
Follow the shoreline path that will then take you through the woods and out the other side. Head right, picking up the trail markers for the circular route once again.
This trail, which will test your cycling skills as it is rough in places, takes you all the way back to the main road, cross straight over and you are back at the Brenig. Picking up the trail road head right, this will then lead you back to the Visitor Centre.
5m / 8km. Cycle hard uphill, enjoy picturesque views of the lake and enjoy winding down the forest track.
• GO TO ROUTE •14.5m / 23km. Cycle up to the Gors Maen Llwyd Nature Reserve, wind your way down twisting paths, cross bridges, and admire the stunning shoreline of Alwin.
